Rick Muto

http://rickmuto.com/special_projects.html

I went to Mr. Muto's open studio this weekend to see his painted paino which commission by Steinway & Sons. (<--- I want a Steinway pianoooo!!!! It's the king of piano for concert level performance)

This is the 4th piano he paints. The piano project is commission by the piano manufaturer and the piano will go to Shanghi, China, at Steinway's piano show room.

It's really amazing to see other people doing the same thing I do to the paino. But this guy is a muuuuuuuch more professional artist. He makes me fell my work is just a student work......

He got all the piano parts separately and put them together after completing painting. And he do "test paint" on the sample that Steinway offer to try out the material. He use gesso for the base, but since he is painting on a new piano from factory, there's no varnish on it. (And my piano is an old one so I got a lot problem on just gessoing.) The piano is painted by acrylic because of the concern on the finish varnish he want to use.

His background on decorative art in furniture makes him successful. It looks like I still far from a prefessional artist.
